The Ironman World Championship is just around the corner: October 10th to be exact.

Chris "Macca" McCormack Ready for Ironman Kona

2007 Ironman World Champion and one of the best triathletes to ever race on planet Earth is ready to take on the rest of the best in the sport. Ironman World Champs on October 10th in Kona, Hawaii is the site for an epic duel between SaltStick athlete and 2008 winner Craig "Crowie" Alexander and SaltStick athlete and 2007 winner Chris "Macca" McCormack. A full roster of athletes using SaltStick will be sent out in the next newsletter. Macca has been near Los Angeles for his final training push towards Ironman.

Jordan Romero Summits Carstensz Pyramid, Papua-Irian Jaya-Indonesia, Sept 2, 2009

The American Team of Paul Romero, Karen Lundgren and 13-year old Jordan Romero made it to the summit of Carstensz Pyramid. The 4,884 m (16,024) Mt. CARSTENSZ PYRAMID the highest peak of Australia – Oceania in Papua Island, Indonesia. This is Jordan's 6th summit of climbing the tallest peaks on each continent. SaltStick is a proud sponsor of Jordan and of his adventures.

Jordan's 7 Summits Youth Challenge

Local youth mountaineer and SaltStick athlete, Jordan Romero, is on his way to climbing the World’s 7 Summits. He wants to share his experience with other youth and so created the 7 Summits of Big Bear Youth Challenge.

Youth of all ages are encouraged to get out and exercise in the outdoors. There is no charge to participate. Participants will receive plenty of free goodies and be eligible for great raffle prizes donated by many of Jordan’s sponsors.

SaltStick Founder Jonathan Toker and teammate Leor Pantilat finished 6th overall at the 2009 Gore-Tex TransRockies Trail Run in a time of 16:25:52 for the 114 mile route on a challenging course over 6 days.

SaltStick.com team to compete in Trans-Rockies stage race

Team SaltStick.com is proud to toe the line on Sunday, Aug 23rd for the start of the Gore-Tex TransRockies 6-day stage running race. This 112 mile event is in its third year and attracts some of the top trail runners in the world. 150 teams of two will compete for $20,000 in prize money.

The SaltStick.com team consists of Jonathan Toker, 34 and Leor Pantilat, 26.

Leor Pantilat is an adventure runner and trail runner from San Carlos, CA, originally from Sammamish, WA. Winner of the 2009 Way Too Cool 50k, two-time winner and course record holder of the Golden Hills Marathon, winner and course record holder of the Quicksilver 25k, and winner of the 2008 Skyline to the Sea 50k. Holder of fastest known times on Mount Olympus (WA state) and numerous other peaks in the Washington Cascades and Sierra Nevada mountains. 2009 goals include the Ohlone 50k and adventure runs of the Ptarmigan Traverse (WA state) and peaks in the Palisades subrange of the Sierra mountains.

Jonathan Toker is a Ph.D. chemist and elite triathlete and trail runner originally from Montreal, Canada. Jonathan developed the SaltStick capsules and dispenser products from 2002-2005 and continues to enjoy running the business and seeing the SaltStick products in use and winning races around the world. As an athlete, Jonathan has won many trail races in Southern California and raced in the 2008 edition of the TransRockies with teammate Chris Clarke to finish 6th overall in the open men's division.

A Special note goes to Leor Pantilat and Caitlin Smith who smoked the field in the "Way Too Cool 50K" trail race for their respective overall wins and new course records. Drug-Free Sport Blog

Inbounds Athletics has started a blog that deals with drug-free sport, and the athletes who support these efforts. Inbounds Athletics also has an online store where products such as SaltStick are available. Seasoned pro Joanna Zeiger set a new World-best time for the Ironman 70.3 distance in 4:02:49, winning the Championship title. Watch Crowie win Ironman...

In 2007, Craig finished 2nd at the World Championship just minutes behind winner Chris McCormack. Both athletes use SaltStick Caps and dispensers for their electrolyte needs.

In 2008, Craig blasted through the course and won the race. Macca was in an excellent position to defend his title, but his day was cut short due to a bicycle mechanical issue.

8 of the top 20 men, including 3 of the top 4, were using SaltStick Caps and/or dispensers on race day.

SaltStick at Ironman World Championships Oct. 11th, 2008

The annual championship to the worldwide Ironman series takes place this Saturday, Oct. 11th, 2008 in Kona, Hawaii. The 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and 26.2 mile marathon is sure to test every athlete to their limit. Last year's winner, Chris "Macca" McCormack will be wearing #1 and has stated that he's ready to defend his title. Macca has been an avid SaltStick athlete for 3 years and the capsules have been instrumental in helping Macca avoid muscle cramping that plagued his early Kona races. Race bib #2 will be worn by none other than Craig "Crowie" Alexander, who was runner-up last year. Crowie is also an avid SaltStick fan and depended on the dispenser and caps in 2007 comes into this race with high hopes for a strong showing in 2008. More than coincidence that both SaltStick athletes took top honors last year?

Team SaltStick consisting of Chris Clarke and Jonathan Toker raced at the 2nd annual TransRockies Trail Race (Aug 25-30th) and placed 7th out of 70 teams and 6th in the highly competitive open Men's division. "Of course, we couldn't have done it without SaltStick Caps and SaltStick dispensers" says Chris Clarke. McKinley (Denali), summited on June 19th, his 5th successful summit in his quest for climbing the highest summit on each continent! Chris "Macca" McCormack won the Ironman Frankfurt European Championship today in a spectacular time of 7:59:53! Macca is a long-time SaltStick athlete, depending exclusively on SaltStick capsules and dispensers to eliminate muscle cramping, so he can focus on the athletic task at hand. Macca won the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii in 2007, and is looking at defending his title this year.
